The PTA organises several fund raising events throughout the year.
What kind of events do we hold over the school year? All sorts! Our major event is our summer fair in June but every term we run 3 or 4 events including the very popular school discos, talent shows, tea parties, cake sales, bingo and quiz nights, raffles, Christmas gift fairs, BBQs, pamper nights, Burns Nights and fashion shows…to name but a few. The PTA is about much more than raising funds. Our events provide a great opportunity for children and their families to meet up and have fun outside school hours, creating a great community around the school.
So where do you come in?The PTA relies on every parent and carer at school to support them in order to run the events and raise the funds that benefit every single child. In the very least we need you and your children to come to our events and spend your money! We hope though that you can show your support for your child’s school by getting involved a bit more, whether that’s donating gifts and raffle prizes, making cakes, selling tickets, volunteering your time at events or getting a bit more involved in the running of the PTA.
So here’s what you can do to make a difference to your child’s education.
Join the PTA CommitteeIf you want to be involved on the PTA committee, we need new members. We always welcome new faces and fresh input. It’s rare that a committee member can make every meeting, or get involved in every event and we don’t expect you to – the more of us there are, the more we can spread the load. To join the PTA, please fill in the form below or come and talk to any of the PTA committee members to find out more. You can also email us at email@example.com
Friends of St John’s PTAWe have set up an email group and we hope each and every one of you will sign up. This for every parent/carer who wants to be kept up to date with what we are doing and is happy to help out at occasional events. It could be running a stall for an hour, or helping to set up or clear away at one event. If every parent gave just one hour a year at one of our events, it would make a radical difference to the PTA. The fact is we are in danger of having to cancel many of our events unless we get more help from parents outside of the PTA. I hope you understand how much work goes into these events and how frustrated we get when we don’t get enough help. Every single child benefits. To become a Friend of St John’s PTA all you need to do is email
firstname.lastname@example.org and you will be added to the email group. We will then send out an email every time we need volunteers for an event and give you an opportunity to put your name forward to help out. Thank you, your support is valued and needed. St John’s School PTA
